Dr. Erin Basinger (Ph.D., University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a core faculty member in the interdisciplinary Health Psychology Ph.D. program and the Health/Medical Humanities minor, and an affiliate faculty member with the Public Health Sciences Ph.D. program.
Dr. Basinger is also a fat liberationist and activist who is passionate about fat people's experiences navigating a structurally biased healthcare system. She has published about the fat pregnant experience in Health Communication and Women's Reproductive Health and about weight stigma in the context of diabetes in Health Communication, the Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Southern Communication Journal. |
